The New Weedless Wally Mold
« on: 03/25/26 09:07 UTC »
Has anyone obtained this mold yet? If so, what do you think?

I've ordered one, but it's not yet arrived.

It appears to be a lot like the Hybrid Grass jig, except takes the lighter wire, 90 degree bend hooks.

I'm still not a fan of the big lead barbs, but at least they're easy to make smaller.

I haven't ordered the hooks, want to see if any I already have will fit, before doing that.

One more mold added to my collection!  ;D

What's the order number? I'm not seeing a weedless walleye mold.

I have one of the older molds too, and use it. I'm not thrilled about using the Eagle Claw hooks it's made for, so have used a Victory hook and that produces a nice jig.

The mold I have had some modification on one cavity, which causes some extra clean up, but still pours OK.

I ordered the new mold from Zeiner's, after seeing a post online that was made mentioning this new mold.

I don't see it as a special mold, just another one to have, but I suspect it will have it's uses. They also appear to be bringing back the older "Y" weed guards too. I have some but only used them on small weedless round head jigs and not often.

I have the mold with the eyes because I favored the hook's eye being set back as opposed to having the eye so far forward.

The walleye head is a nice head for vertical jigging. I do well with it in that application. The weedless head isn't something I'd use because the only walleye fishing I do that involves weeds is done on the outside edge of any weeds and most likely with a crank bait..

Great little jig that's going to spend most of it's time drifted under brush piles and pitched to grass edges for me.

I have a feeling it's going to make a nice smallmouth finesse jig too!

I wasn't sure on it, but the hair jig looks sweet.  I may have to get one just for that.

I like the walleye jig styles for hair jigs too, and figured this new mold version would work fine for that purpose!

Brennan, those all look great!

I'm looking forward to the mold arriving, and see what I can do with it.   :D
