4.25 Flippin hog?

Hey guys! Has anyone on here used the 4.25" flippin hog? And how do you like it? And how easy is it to shoot? I'm thinking about getting this mold. Thanks,   Bob

Bob, those are one of my favorite baits.  I have both molds, the 4.5 and the 6 inch. I have not had any trouble with either molds at any time. In fact, I am still counting the 6 inch because every injection has been flawless, unlike a couple of my other molds, but that's out of 16 other molds. I'm bound to have one or two give me trouble.

The 4.25" Flippin Hog was one of my top baits last summer...but for kind of a strange reason.

I like to fish it on a light swim jig head and fish it in the slop...like a frog. The wings and big tail help keep it on top of the weeds.

When I reach the end of the weeds I let it sit for a few seconds and then "hop" it into the water and let it fall straight down. If they were following it under the weeds...they can't stand it when it jumps into the water and sinks right in front of them!

My son likes to fish it (and the Baby Berry) on a wide gap hook ...and on a heavy spinning rod. No weight...thus the need for the spinning rod. He does the same thing as mentioned above...but after it jumps into the water he makes it  "walk the dog" (sort of) and fishes it top water back to the boat. Darn if he doesn't catch more than his fair share!

It's was also a darn good Dog Fish bait in the slop. And since I'm just lookin' for a big tug....I'll fish for those nasty critters.

I had to pour a lot of them this winter..because the Northern Pike are especially fond of it...

And I agree...one of the easiest baits to pour. Not very fussy. The only thing I would recommend is don't go too high on your temperatures or you may get some denting in the thick body. My notes said I was shooting it at 330 (after the plastic cooled from 350). The body is nicely textured ...so I doubt you would even notice a dent anyway.

I made a bunch with the HD additive and I'm expecting them to cast a lot better on just a hook on my bait casting gear and be a lot more wear resistant on the Northern Pike. I was hoping to have tried them on the Northern's by now...but we still have an issue with "hard water".

I also fish it sidewards ..like the DD Gill.
