Here is a question for all you experienced or not so experienced hand pourers. Is there a way to do away with or reduce flashing  on hand poured baits?

The only known way is to practice, practice, practice. You can do a few things to reduce it such as no matter what size cup you use only fill half full, find a pyrex cup with the narrowest spout they are not created equal. pouring hotter is another way to keep a thin stream going and a secondary hold to guide your cup while pouring, I pour left handed and use my index finger to support the cup while pouring.

I've got the jitters so hand pouring really isn't my thing.  When I do try to hand pour, I use a silicone cup.  You're able to bend it and get a very narrow stream of plastic.  I hope this helps.
Until next time.

Where do you get your silicone cups from?

I got mine at Sur Le Table and paid waaaaay too much.  I'd probably try Amazon or EBay.  Some of the guys are on the garage sale / flea market circuit (Tom, Tim, etc) and get some good stuff at giveaway prices.
Until next time.

Amazingly I have yet to see one of these mythical silicone cups at a garage or estate sale. I've found every other kind of silicone appliance made, but not one of the cups.

I pour out of small aluminium pans. Used to be what everyone used several years ago. Not sure you can even get these now. You microwave the plastic and pour in pan. Keep pan on hotplate between pours.

Jim at ghost baits give me the best advice.   Bring the mold closer to your eyes.
