Right on by.....

Yesterday Ma and I went to Grinnell Iowa for a basketball game that our grand-daughter's husband was playing in. I'll never see another game like this score-wise in my life I am sure.
We drove and our son, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter rode along on the 3 1/2 hour road-trip. I'm not sure any of them will ever see a game like this again either. Our trip took us right past Do-It headquarters so I made a swing off the highway so the kids could see the plant and I was sorry that I had to drive right on by.

Andy Carlson [grand daughter's hubby] plays for Crossroads College [4 year school with religious underpinnings] located here in Rochester as a senior and is the school's leading scorer, putting an average of 20 points or so per game on the board. He is a prime-time rebounder and is a solid defenseman.

The Grinnell College basketball squad has a junior from River Falls Wisconsin that is a team in and of himself. His scoring is off the charts with a game average of 71 points per. No joke, a 71 point game average. Grinnell College teams have season records for points scored within their conference year after year. Grinnell is a NCAA Division III school.

At the end of the first two minutes of play yesterday, Grinnell was up 18-0 and things went nuts from there. Grinnell's final score was 173. Crossroads had a score of 123. Andy had his highest scoring day ever with 50 points scored. The kid from River Falls/Grinnell racked up 109 points, most from three pointers taken from well outside of the line. The really crazy thing is this kid is only 5'10". The Grinnell coaching has some tricks that I don't think division 2 schools cope with well and this kid alone had a game high 138 points during a game last season during one of those games.

Grinnell has a nice campus and right now it slips my mind what the current enrollment is at. Grinnell I think is Iowa's first college and was founded in 1848. Crossroads is a small college with slightly over 110 enrolled this year.

The play was fast and furious front the tip. I've never seen a game like this ever. Unreal is the best way to describe it. I knew it was going to be a wild game but nothing like this. On the drive by the shop on our way home the place looked forlorn without any lights on.
