Adhesive scale tape?
« on: 01/18/15 20:22 UTC »
Is there anywhere that sales adhesive back scale net tape.  I see it at Barlow's with the large scales but its not adhesive back either.  I'm looking for a small scale pattern for painting small heads and baits.

Got to thinking if I could use a tape then I could get a better scale pattern on baits.  Just have a little OCD with detail on painting heads.

You can use dry wall tape. It's not real small though. But I use it to make scale patterns on spinnerbait heads

I like the drywall tape idea, but you might also try using window screen (for a smaller pattern) with clips to hold it in place... then brush on your powder paint and hit it with a heat gun (if that is the method you are using.)

I stole a bunch from my wifes sewing stuff,  very small mesh. I think this is similar

I also use some cheap mesh laundry bags, scraps of Fiberglass screen, onion sacks, and even some  protective mesh tubes that are used to protect threads on large bolts. Let your imagination run wild.
Wishing y'all tight lines and bent wriggling rods. Happy Fishing!

I have never tried this but it should work. Try a lite spray of adhesive, apply while still a little wet, but I mean a little damp. If too wet it will probably leave adhesive. Total shot in the dark, but works with patterns that can be removed.

I watched a guy on YouTube spraying crank baits and he used one of his wife's luffa scrubs in a needle stitch ring to paint scales on

Fabric stores sell a spray adhesive that is used to temporarily stick fabrics together.. Spray the scale netting on one side just a quick shot....it should work for you and doesn't leave any tacky film when the netting is removed.
