I've been using worm weights as bodies for spinners for quite a while. Needless to say powder painting them and keeping the holes open has been a challenge. If I were using an electrostatic gun I would just thread them on wire and paint. However I dip them.
I picked up some .062 Teflon wire from Contenti and gave it a try today. Works like a champ! I cut it into 2" sections, push it through the sinker and then heat them up in my frying pan sitting on a hot plate. Grab the Teflon wire while wearing gloves and swish them in the paint. Hold them in front of the fan for about 10 seconds then I can sit them down. I'm going to get a piece of 2x4 and drill some holes in it slightly larger than .062 so I can just place the Teflon wire in the hole while they cool.
I then pull the wire out and place the bodies/weights on my custom made rack to bake them. The rack is simply some threaded rod between two plates with paper clips on it. I bend the leg of the paper clip out and place the sinker on there to cure the paint.
It's the best method I've found so far to paint these little suckers. It would work with the lure body mold if you got the correct size wire which Contenti sells.
