That thing is a beast!  Does OH offer a citation certificate for a certain size and above like WV does. If so that would look awful nice hanging next to the mount IMHO.

Given it was caught on 4lb test, you might even have a line class record on your hands... although I did not see any direct mention of this on the link, it might be a possibility if you contact the record keepers... (I would definitely recommend you look into this).

Thank you yeah I saw a wave come up as I hooked it I'm like oh my gosh! Lol my eyes must have been as big as a fifty cent piece. I was by myself to at first and after I thought he took me into a root I hurried and texted my brother who was at the beach metal detecting right beside me to hurry come now.

Yeah we have the fish Ohio recocgnition program I registered it and will get a pin with certificate you beat me to it I was soon going to start a discussion to see if other states does this as well.  What part of west Virginia are you in and do they do it your way l? I am like not even a hour from the west Virginia ohio border was in west Virginia yesterday.

I’m located in Lewis County. Home to the Stonewall Jackson Lake, Stone Coal Lake and the West Fork River. We too have the citation program through our DNR. I think I put a picture of mine in an older post under pb smallmouth.

How would I go about doing that? Call the ohio  division of wildlife and check ?

Not as good as years ago. To be honest I haven’t been crappie fishing for a while. After selling my bass boat I’ve been content floating the local rivers chasing smallies and musky. Stonewall use to be amazing on size/numbers.  Burnsville Lake (30 minutes south) was/might still be pretty hot too.

The web-link states, "Possible state record fish must be kept frozen for verification by the Outdoor Writers of Ohio.

I'm not sure you would need to keep your fish frozen for a line-class record (or if they even exist at the state level), but the person listed on the OWO website that could give you some answers is:
Fred Snyder, fnsnyder@woh.rr.com
(Record fish program contact)
