Aw Yeah Dob!  I'd leave that color, especially the Belly, the same as it is.  That's actually quite Natural...a Truly Natural Perch/Sunfish/Bluegill/Pumpkinseed imitation is actually hard to hit, but this one is good.  I think this CCM DD Gill bait lends itself to a Natural Crappie/Sacalait imitating color.

Thank you sir for posting the recipe, I am headed to shop now to try it out... dont have the DD yet going to try it on a croaker... ----was it the 405 or 1185 orange?

i wanna say 1185 its not a bright bright orange. only takes 1 drop of black to tone it out
