You mean Denny? Sure. Blame him. He's a real good starting place for blame as a general rule. If you want to blame in specifics, blame Mo. We all know he did it.

Be careful around here, Mike.  A guy can't even go to church without getting blamed for something.
Until next time.

what do you think  about clear stick baits for bass

I like any version of stick bait when the bass are shallow, but clear/blue has been especially good to me for this application (in clearer water).

How do you do your stick baits clear? I always use HDA to make them behave like a senko and that makes them completely opaque

I don't use HDA; I use a modified poison tail jig (1/16oz) as a weighted wacky hook.

Late in the season here as the temps drop the river clears up (I'm sure the Miss does too to some extent).
Yes it does; clarity increases four to six feet most years.

I am definitely going to try some clear baits down the road once the river opens up again.
Also try different bait shapes/sizes and jig weights as well.  It never ceases to amaze me how seemingly insignificant changes can sometimes make all the difference.

If we stay dry thru the winter the Miss can clear up a little but clear is a real relative term there. The Minnesota River and St.Croix and Chippewa flowages from Wisconsin can mess with the big river's water clarity a lot too.

Many moons ago I ran into some off spec "firecracker" grubs that were clear and a fairly light amount of glitter.  Those grubs produced really well for several winters until we ran out of them.  They seemed to work much better in cold water.

No doubt clear water is a relative term. The Rock River is basically a mini Mississippi River. What I consider "clear water" here is when the visibility gets to be 3 to 4 feet. That only happens during the cold water period = Late fall through early spring and no runoff.  Cotton Candy was a producer this fall. Another "clear baits work" hint that I missed.
