[ Invalid Attachment ] First let me say that i have some heads made by 21XDC & some made by Hawgthumper & both are outstanding & you can texas rig a ned rig bait on them which is what i've been wanting. I made some watermelon red skirted ned rig baits that i made by making some 5"  essential series senkos & cutting them down to the front side of the egg sack because i wanted them a little bigger for this. I then took the hot knife & attached some watermelon red skirts made with the  angling  mold to them. I texas rigged  them on these heads & dropped them into a can of water &  they stood straight up with the skirt flared out & the tail wiggling. I'd already tried one on a head  made by Mike, but the lake was dirty & i will say that i threw it into everything & never once hung it up. I also was sent a video of it standing up no matter how high  or what position  it was dropped from. I'll be using these in 1/4 & 3/8  ounce  when it gets hot this summer & you have to finesse fish to catch deep  smallmouth. I wanted a beefed up ned rig head & have it now thanks to Mike & Jimmy.  ;D
Thanks for the mention Les!

They look good Les!   Thanks for posting the photo's. I'm not a fan of video's anyway.  ::)

I've seen the heads like that in some of the FB lure making groups. I can see the appeal, and pour the Ned heads myself, but have not delved into wanting to modify that mold yet, unless one of the major hook brands decides to produce those hooks.  IMO, relying on hooks that someone else is having made, particularly from a business stand point, might get tricky. They've become popular for sure.  :D
The hooks I use are VMCs. I’ve heard rumors that Mustad may be making them soon for Doit. Don’t know for sure. It’d be nice if we could get them in smaller quantities.  Currently you can only get them in quantities of 1000 or more. The gentleman that I get them from has them in size 1, 1/0, and 2/0. You can cover a lot of ground with the 3 sizes. The #1s are perfect for a regular Ned. As far as modifying the mold goes, it’s very easy. Just put the hook in the mold and then put the mold in a bench vise and squeeze it closed. No need to dremel.

Thanks, but I have extensive experience with modifying these molds, and that's not an issue, and not why I'm not modifying it at the present time. I know the guy who's having the hooks made, as I also frequent some of the same FB groups that he's in. I'm aware of the sizes and quantities he sells also, but do appreciate that you're including the information here, maybe others will make use of it.

I'm working on getting a shop completed and haven't been doing much lure making or fly tying and shipping delays in getting necessary materials, is putting me further & further behind. So, I've not been buying anything, and not modifying molds for any purpose either, just have not had the time for it. Plus, My house & garage are a total mess, and I have no where to work at the moment. My new shop is a room over my garage, that was unfinished, and we had a lot of things stored in it that had to be moved into the garage or house and stored temporarily.

My paint was ordered on the 13th, 5 days ago, a day after the drywall guy finished and the paint arrived today. I had placed the order with Home Depot, the closest store to me, that's only about an hour away, and paid for delivery of paint, and associated supplies, some sheets of rigid insulation, and an exterior door. I figured they would put it all on the truck and send it! Wrong!  They shipped a paint brush, 18" commercial paint rollers, and the 5 gals. of paint via UPS, all separate, from 3 other locations, in other states, and still have not delivered the rest of the order! So instead of it taking a couple of days to get what I needed, it's been a week and still not all shipped. I've had other work to do, but still, these delays are killing me!  :-[

Only thing I have ever successfully caught on a Ned rig is a small channel catfish  :P Outside of that little channel cat all I have managed to hook are brushpiles, rocks, stumps.
