Thanks for the replies everyone. The buck or deer tails with long hair are indeed farm raised, but now a fad is happening and it isn't available anymore, at least to me. Remember how the price of hackle went through the roof when women started using grizzly hackle for hair extensions? Then when the "A" rig became the thing to have my wire supplier was running out of .035 and .040 wire and then the cost went up and now the preacher jigs are back in style and the extra long deer tails have disappeared. The place I got them from either went out of business or they are now selling to the likes of Mann's or Talon custom lure or some other larger manufacturer and most places that had it have taken it off their inventory. There isn't a ton of it around, if you look around these big hair jigs cost anywhere from $10 to $16 each but that is because the tails with the really long hair were expensive, as I said before, I use to pay $18 per tail and I was happy as I saw some that were as much as $30 but I'm already figuring that if I find any it will be too costly so I'll probably go synthetic or just not make any at all. Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate it and if anyone has regular buck tails that are processed and they would like to sell them just let me know.
