Cand-E-core tube baits

Striped Monkey (Gorilla)... both essentially perfect on first try!

Pixie Stix... three attempts and all three came out with short tails.
(I may try again, raising the temp to 390 and/or preheating the mold).

Thanks all...

As for the insert (or is it an outsert?), I don't think it is that difficult to make conceptually... however, the "nozzle" portion of the sleeve is probably the hardest part to fab as it has to fit within the gate without blocking it.

This might be an idea where HQ could offer an interchangeable spindle (or ready made coil) to make things easier for those less gifted in tinkering?

I could see a special spindle being made for that real easy by HQ on the cnc

Wow looks pretty sweet but how the heck are these e cores done ?  Im a total noob on this stuff  :)

This core method was started in my garage and its first posting was here: http://custombaits.com/index.php?topic=9565.msg74176#msg74176 and then I conceived how to do it without modifying molds here: http://custombaits.com/index.php?topic=9663.msg74495#msg74495... from there multiple guys got into it and I think 2XL is the fella that came up with the label that stuck.  If you do a search for E-core (also ecore or just plain core), you'll find many other examples on the forum.

For more intricate core ideas you may also want to look up shazam & spanking the lizard.  Basically, it comes down to creating a void in the body that can get filled in on a successive injection... the only thing is that smaller, thinner cores can get to be a little tricky.

Nice that is a great idea.  I hope you dont mind me trying your idea. I am going to try the chub grub brass pin idea just trying to figure out the best way to cut the rod.

Shaunm81.  I've been cutting the rods either with a cut off wheel on a grinder or a hacksaw with a metal cutting blade works fine too.

I can't remember who, but someone here tried aluminum knitting needles as the core rod stock and had very good luck with them.
