Paint for plastic baits

What paint do you use to paint plastic baits like swimbaits?  Do you dip in clear are the paint dries?

Thanks,

Scott

LC has paint for soft plastics.  It works pretty good, but I usually dip my baits that I paint.

Spike it has some also actually that is where lc gets theirs I hear. I dont dip mine and it holds on real good. It will wear out but wont come off with out some real elbow grease. Frank

if a customer wanted to have "tipped" claws or something... would it hold up well in a bag and fishing since you have experience with it? in your opinion

I have used it...and it's "ok". It adds some color...and some scent. It's quick and durable. A quick and easy change kind of thing.

What I don't like it that it's not a "clean" color....it muddies the color underneath...big deal??? Depends on the person.

If I want red tipped claws on my Mud Bug ( I do!!!) I mold the tips in the claw mold ...then add them when I mold the bait.

If I want scent...I add it later.

But I'm kind of fussy on color...I want the claw tips to be RED...not kinda of red/brown. Or Chartreuse...not a muddy chartreuse/brown

These colors are more of a transperant coloring. What is under it will affect the final color. I have not tried this but I would bet if you dipped it in white first then say a red or chartruse the color would be much better. Mine are mostly used on swim baits that are clear or white then over coated with the darker colors. Frank
