Honey, I’m home…
« on: 12/25/18 10:26 UTC »
As much as I like fishing and all things related, I knew I had to avoid both fishing and this forum over the past six months if I was to keep my life out of the ditch.

We bought our current house a little over a year ago, yet we did not actually move until after we sold our previous house in June (and we are still not fully settled in here with all that life has going on).  Adding to the spin of moving was the fact that we immediately tore down the old ramshackled garage to build a 27x46 pole shed, BUT with construction booming as it was, we were well down the waiting list of projects, so this did not get “finished” until late October; and again because of the industry’s busyness we are still without a concrete floor for setting cabinets, workbenches, and the like… consequently, I have been without a workshop for 11 months (since I started packing up after our closing last December) and the barn is loaded to the gills with everything that should be in the garage in addition to the normal barn stuff.

To compound my moving/building inconvenience, I started an internship as a fish biologist at the Genoa National Fish Hatchery in August, as part of my master’s work in conservation biology.  Plus there were also the other more common burdens we all have, including family time and social obligations, so I had to abandon some of my larger diversions.

All in all, I would not change the chaotic last few months because our new place is beyond our dreams (40 acres with 1200ft river frontage)... God is good... and the diversions are now back on tap with Christmas break (and hopefully longer if I can get/stay ahead of life).

Well, welcome back efish.  Don't worry, as you get older life slows down.  Why just yesterday I woke up and it was tomorrow.

Great to hear from you. I knew you were in a state of flux and wondered when you'd wander back around. Its tough just getting a shop put together in an existing garage let alone building the garage then the shop.

That's a great direction you're headed for and that masters will take you far.

Hope you're having a good holiday season. Its nice to get your up-date. Merry Christmas bud!

Right... sometimes I find the easiest way to catch up is to stop running until the world laps me, and then start running again... (kinda like some wanna-be long distance runners do)!

My barn is virtually unusable for anything other than storage right now.

Glade to see you back and the schooling is on track. And hopefully by summer you’ll be settled in and back to normal.
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

Trust me when I say it bothers me as well (as a recovering type "A"), but there is not much I can do about it until the construction gets finished. I've already used alternate contractors to get the pole shed up... it was supposed to be done in July, and when it wasn't even started by Sept 1 (with multiple promises in between), I cut the original company loose and started calling around until I found someone willing to start within two weeks.  It's a mess to be sure, but the pictures below show my compensation

I have only come up with one more unique E-core design (as of right now), just not sure when I will actually get around to making it happen... I'm still playing catch-up on past posts, but maybe I will set up a temporary workbench in the garage now that I'm off work with the government shutdown.
