I just started this new hobby of making my own plastics this winter. Expensive, but lots of fun.
I’m a walleye guy, so started out with the Ripper swimbait molds, all single cavity, dual and single injectors, lots of colour and glitter options. I currently have 3 Ripper molds including the new 6” Ripper. I’m having a problem with dents in the largest part of the body on the 6” one. Have tried pouring at various temperatures 300-350, release mold from clamps right after injecting, top off mold with plastisol. The mold had different sized opening on the gates, one side was smaller than the other, so I filed it out to be the same size as the other. Still getting dents almost every time. Only thing I can think of that I haven’t tried was an extender. Any suggestions?
I also have been pouting some lead for the first time in over 20 years. Found all my old Do-It molds and melting pot and other pouring supplies. Got both sizes of the new swimbait heads. Looks like it will be an awesome combination with the Rippers.
Having trouble trying to add pictures to this post. What am I doing wrong? Pictures load as attachments, but when I go to post, it freezes up.
