Update on my Wife
« on: 04/11/19 17:24 UTC »
On March 28th my wife had her second round of chemotherapy.  This one was a lot harder on her than the first, lots of nausea, severe fatigue and mood changes.  The following Sunday our Oncologist called (yeah on a Sunday) and informed us that he had received a call from the pathologist, they had isolated one of the mutations (actually, it is not a mutation at all but something else I can't recall the name of).  Anyway, he identified it as ROS1.  As a result, he stopped further chemo treatments and put her on a drug called Crizonotinib, which is designed specifically to kill ROS1.  She started taking it twice a day on Tues/  Today we met with him to go over our last pet scan.  The bad news is it is exactly the same as her first.  The good news is that means that the progression has stopped!  The Doc told us he has a lot of faith in the new drug.  Says he wants a new pet scan in 6 to 8 weeks and in his words I will be stunned if we don't see a marked improvement.

I want to thank each of you who sent well wishes and prayers.  You have no idea how much they mean.  Thank you
I find it incredible that I have to explain to a grown American citizen that taking a knee during the National Anthem is disrespectful.

That is great news and be sure that prayers continue my friend, for both of you and the family.

Medicine today can do some remarkable things. Have some faith in what it can do too.

Keep us in the loop!

Olsarge, that is good news that her condition has not gotten worse. I hope the new medicine helps her. It sounds encouraging. I will continue to pray for her.
I'm going through chemo, myself now, hoping for some good results. Still can use your prayers.

You have them brandx. Any word at all how things are going for you?

I just got the appointment confirmation call for Mondays cut on me. Another positive test for skin cancer has led to this so....... Another couple cuts and I'll be on the same page as Frankenstien for stitches and surgical beauty marks..

My wife was an oncology nurse for over forty years before she retired a couple years ago.  I can't tell you the number of nights that were spent at my home in prayer and in tears.  What I learned is that prayer works.  When all seems lost, get on your knees.  As a teenager, I walked away from Jesus.  Years later when catastrophe hit, I discovered that He never turned His back on me.  He was still there waiting for me to get my act together.

My prayers go out to all of you.
Until next time.

Denny

Brandx:  Best of luck on your treatments!  I hope your infusion team is as professional and compassionate as ours was (and I am sure they will be).  They are a remarkable bunch.  Prayers will continue my friend.

C-tom, I have had melanoma cut out of my back, about 15 years ago, had 28 stitches from that one, and have had a few small ones cut from my face.
In 2017 I had cancer, plasma cyetoma, and now, in 2018 they have determined I have Multiple myeloma, instead of non hodgkin"s lymphoma, like I was diagnoised with at first.
It seems I have it in 5 places.
I recently flew out to Houston Texas, to MD Andersons for a 2nd opinion. That is where they changed my diagnoisis .  There is no cure for multible myeloma , but it can sometimes be put in remission for some time. depending on how bad you have it.
I[m going through cemo now, and radiation.  I hope it will help, put it in remission.
Thanks for asking, hope your surgery goes well Tom.
