I tried in my first attempt and found that there's a fine line between being slightly opaque (bone colored) and unable to see through.

I'm not sure of your context (as a toddler or as an old duffer), but both can be a disappointment.

Take a minute and sit down. Then "try" to stand. You either stand or you don't. Close to your fine line analogy.
