« on: 09/17/19 06:53 UTC »
Just purchased a Lee 10 pound lead pot and was wondering what temperature/setting I should set the dial on to get the best pour??
Thanks

It will depend on the mold you have and the lead you are using. If you are using scrap lead and aren't sure if it soft or hard, simply see if you can scratch it with your fingernail. So for most molds with pure soft lead you should be able to set the pot to 6 and be fine. Some molds you may need to bump it up to 7 or even 8 but just start with 6 and go from there.

I pour all my lead at full on hot.... I never found a reason to turn it down.

I'm using pure lead I purchased from Janns Netcraft. I have the poison tail jig mold....... Trokar swim jig mold & The Arkie jig molds.
I'll try it on 6 first and see if I get complete pours. Thanks

A lee pot won't get the lead "too" hot so just turn it up and go.

Bingo!

I started casting jigs in the 1960's using a pot on a stove. My first pot was a Lee and was cranked to the max and I still cast as hot as the pot can get.
