Started right off with a great check-up with the doc then getting a permission slip to fish a couple hour and catching a nice 12 1/2" crappie on the first cast. Gotta love a morning like this one.
I ended up with 6 crappies that size and caught four others that were under 10" and went back. I had a surprise hit too....a nice healthy 20+ inch smallie. Now on a panfish rod and 4 pound line this critter kept me busy for a while. What fun these cold water smallies are, just a riot with the jumps and strong runs. The phone was in the van so no pics but we all know what crappies and smallies look like anyway.
Purple/chartreuse tail 1.5" Thump-It took the honors this morning. I tries a couple other colors but nada. As soon as the purple went back on it was action time. It was cloudy here this morning so that maybe was the difference.
Supper is accounted for so Ma's happy. I'm heading back in the morning but may need rain gear.
