Jason,
Is there a simpler way to reload the tails on the 2.5 Swim fry with the go-go grub tails?  I have an order for 200 count of the swim fry with red bodies and chart tails.  Tried to load a few that I shot a little while ago and man was it difficult......

I'm wondering if maybe a little worm oil on the mold.....or a shot of Pam cooking oil or something?  The tail is so small and with the little appendages on the end I'm having a terrible time loading.

Thanks
Craig

Here's a couple options:

A little oil, a tooth pick, and a lot of patience.

You can shoot the mold, hold the tail in place and pull the bodies off and re-shoot the bodies the other color.

I think making the different colored tails is good if you are doing it for yourself.  If I was going to sell them I would make laminates; either by hand pouring, blending block or lami plate.  All three ways will give you the color contrast without the time commitment of putting the tails back in.

What colors are you making?

Holding the tails in the mold is the only way to go when doing two colors in my opinion!

Jason, these are red bodied with green chart tails......a popular color for everything here for some reason.  My white bass guys don't seem to want much of anything without a green chart tail for their baits.

The guy wanting the swim fry is using it for creek fishing for goggle-eye......go figure :-\.  Pumpkinseed has always been the go to color for them for most people the last couple of years.

I'd thought about trying the laminate....maybe by pouring the body red in the bottom of the mold, then injecting red/chart laminate to see how it turns out.  In theory it would have a chart tail and a chart line running down the middle of the bait...but not sure.

I'll have to play with it when I get home from work one night this week to see what I can do....I'll post pics.

thanks guys!

If holding the tails doesn't work, and they don't want a laminated tail, the lami plate will give you a red back with a chartreuse belly and tail.

Go with the Lami Plate...it's a LOT faster than you would think! I made up a bunch of bodies and they are very easy to insert.
