That Time of Year (Fall Small)
« on: 11/08/20 14:55 UTC »
Amazing weather here in southern MI this week so I'm trying to cram in some fishing before the weather turns. I had a pretty good outing today netting some nice smallmouth. Water temps were 49 F , the hot bait was the 3.5 Ripper in CC green on a brown 1/4 oz darter head.

Beautiful brownie DF.  Catch them while you can
I find it incredible that I have to explain to a grown American citizen that taking a knee during the National Anthem is disrespectful.

Very nice DF. Hope you have many more days before winter sets in. Looks like fun. I have the 3" Ripper, and need to get some water time in myself.

Nice catch there DF SWIM BAIT’S are king.
Lines the 3” Ripper will make a 1/4 oz jig move without killing the action of the bait. Walleye’s by me just crush the 3”

Thanks WW. What style jig head do you use? Is it the Darter head like DF is smashing the smallmouth on?

Water temps around the 50 deg mark are the magic time for catching smallmouth on small swim baits. I also have good success with shad raps or flicker shads this time of year but today it was all ripper.
