What's changing for you....
« on: 11/17/20 15:36 UTC »
With the nation-wide up-tick in this covid crap, how  will you change or adapt to it when it comes to hunting and fishing? Carole and I are nixing all holiday stuff and staying home....or at least that's what the banter around the house has been.

I just finished deer hunting and I drove solo each way each day. The nephew took a motel room and did not come to the house at all. When we were around the land owner we gave him a wide berth as well. I had been fishing with a buddy but then one of his kids' kids came in contact with covid so he's been side-lined for me. I have the deer processed pretty well to where I need them to start with my sausage making but will hold off until the little heat wave tomorrow and Thursday blows out of the areas and resume with the sausage on Friday when we'll be much cooler. Thursday I think I am going to do a solo shore shot to see if my nice crappies are still in the area we had them before getting stroked with this crap virus.

Bad stuff this virus. Hoping everyone has a safe holiday season and can sneak past any exposure. So with all the restrictions that are going to fly, what are ya'll going to do over this season?

Covid has certainly changed the way we do things.  I have done some fishing but other than that just working around the house and making more baits than a man could use in a lifetime.  My daughter came over Saturday and we all wore masks.  There will be no family gatherings this year.  Can't risk it with the wife's immune system.  Hope this thing ends soon but I doubt that it will.
I find it incredible that I have to explain to a grown American citizen that taking a knee during the National Anthem is disrespectful.

We have not changed too much. We have been so busy since the storm at the shop selling lots of big truck parts and hydraulic hoses to the clean up folks. My family will be having Thanksgiving at our place but that will be only about 15 folks.

My wife is an RN in out patient surgery in a local hospital and I own a security company but am a working boss so in and out of homes and companies all day long. We both wear masks all day long and stay as much away from others as we can. On my times away I've been hiking, biking and fishing and now this the colder weather just down to hiking. Going to the gym has been gone since this started and I hate it. I now have what I call my 10 pound covid and hate it even more. We're working on that and the extra drink that is way to easy to have these days. The wife and I canceled several vacations and my buddy and I this would have been our 28th year going to Canada to fish and we couldn't cross the border. Last year we sat on the dock drinking a glass of Forty Creek and wondered what would end our years of coming up there. Near said covid. I truly hope it's just one year. Looking forward next week my wife and I are going to celebrate our 21 year anniversary by renting an air-stream that is made up high into a tree house. I know right ? Some messed up guy thought that one up, right ? The kids are all going to have their thing and we're just going to have ours. The covid life. Plans for the winter ? Not really sure. We're just taking one day at a time.

Here’s a rundown on what has changed for me. Since March we have done social distancing/mask wearing/sanitization thing. We’ve limited our trips to the store, gotten takeout but no inside dining, and just plain stayed home more. We have told our families we will not be taking part in thanksgiving or Christmas gatherings this year. When I’m around my parents I wear a mask even outside.  My son is due to start college next fall so we are weighing our options concerning housing.

We did go on our annual beach trip this year. Just the four of us. Again no dine in, the wife limited her antique shopping to only a few shops the first hour they opened and we drove 20 or so minutes each day to find a secluded section of beach. And only one trip to the grocery store as they opened for the day.

I have told the guys I will not be going to bear camp this year since they stay in a nice but small cabin and ride share trucks and side by sides.

Hope everyone stays healthy and occupied during this mess. Hopefully these vaccines come through and are as effective as they’re touting them to be.

Hey Walleye Whacker, best of luck on the rest of them there treatments. Thoughts and prayers for ya.

Just about everything got canceled. The spring trout fishing trip with my fishing buddies was canceled. First time in 30+ years Kent and I didn't go the week after Memorial Day.

Kent and I also had our Canada smallmouth trip canceled.

I've been teaching online this fall. I am not fond of it, to say the least, but there is no choice. Winona State went into lockdown 2 weeks into the semester. Students were dropping like flies. I have not heard that anyone was seriously sick, but we made up for it in volume!

No Thanksgiving or Christmas with the kids and grandkids this year. Neva is not pleased, but it's just too risky.

Fishing on the Mississippi River has been terrible for just about everyone I know (except Tom!). Small to medium-sized Northern Pike where everywhere....largemouth and smallmouth must have gone down to Iowa!

I'm looking forward to 2021! I might just take up golf! (Just kidding....I hate golf!).

I am 65 and my life has changed very little. I don't wear masks . I go where I want and do what I want . If I get crap I leave or shop someplace else. I do wash my hands, use sanitizer and I take a regimen of things that boost my immune system . I have no fear . But what I have is my liberty. I will not comply.

I'm with you on that one. If you see me golfing then that's when you need to take my temperature.

I can understand your logic toadfrog. Who can you believe? Masks work, masks don't work. The media has blown this way out of proportion.

Only on the crappies Andrew. Only the crappies. Speaking of which I may give another go tomorrow morning if the wind isn't howling like it is this morning.

Not much fishing today or tomorrow for me.  Winds gusting to over 40 mph both days.  Friday is looking good so far though.  Could use another fish fry.

Gust to 35 got 1/2 hrs of casts but no one wanted to play just great to get out got my strike master 6” auger converted to a Dewalt 996 20 volt lithium ion 5 AH 1/2” hammer Drill and 12” extension and adapter for the drill. I’ve watched video’s were they drill 24 holes in a row so drilling 10-15 on most days should be no problem plus I don’t no what size holes the videoed mine is A 6”
