Blood Red
« on: 03/19/12 19:55 UTC »
I'm trying to get the chub grub skirt to come out a blood red.  It seems that the small appendages make it hard to keep a true color.  I tried about 30 drops of LC bright red and it comes out pinkish.  I added a couple drops of black and it comes out maroon.  I'm trying to get to a deep blood red like the bottom right.

Any help would be appreciated!   ???

I'd almost try adding a drop or two of bright yellow to the darker red and see what happens.

The blood red I make uses 4 oz plastic, 30 drops bears Red Hot Red, 15 drops Lurecraft Bright Red. The lurecraft stuff has some black in it and brings the whole down to a great blood red.

I don't have any experience to share, but the 1st suggestion that comes to my mind is to try CCM's Red NB colorant.  It's very Red, and it seems like a little goes a long way, so it's potent.  I have it, and have only added a drop or 2 in different mixes to get a slight "Red-ing".  I'll be working-up a Red color for Saltwater soon, though...Red w/ Silver flake.

I wish I could help You more, Bro.

I would keep adding Red to the Maroon color You have now.  It looks like You've toned-down the loudness of the 1st color with some Black...I'd add a little more Red.

BareKnuckle,

That's a cool wheel.  I'm going to print that out and hold on to it.  That will prove helpful.

Ctom,

Thanks a lot for the recipe.  I'm going to order some colorant.

I appreciate the help!   :)

Use M-F red... not non-bleed and you will get the red you want.
