Idk about this bait, but i can tell you big worms down there are very popular!! HUGE worms...

depends on if they are looking for a big worm with a paddle or a big worm with a big paddle... if they are more interested in a big "paddle" im not sure this has a big enough one but who knows, i guess we'll see

I already sell piles of the Stump Thumpers up there but a big paddle tail is now on the list.

I can't get 3 or 4 varieties so I am trying to decide on one bait and go from there. I think it will fit the bill but still wanted some feedback on action, durability, etc...

No disrespect to Jason, but BT has a nice one I've been eyeing for awhile. It reminds me of the jelly worm.

"I already sell piles of the Stump Thumpers up there but a big paddle tail is now on the list."....so if that bait sells piles.....and they want the same kind of bait...but with a big paddle tail....that would look like a......oh yeah....a Wackm.....

What am I not understanding?

There is an action to big paddle tail worms that these guys look for. Wanting to know if anyone has fished this worm to hear the action.

If it has the action, I'll buy the molds. If not, I have to find a worm that has that action.

I am fairly confident they are already being used there, but let me check. Not everyone frequents the forum.

I would think getting a few samples of what is in demand and comparing the action would be prudent. You could also have us send a sample bag to you or the store and have them provide feedback.

The design is pretty straightforward and could be easily adapted to their requirements.

End of the day I would want the customers input and buy in. With our sample program we are already setup to facilitate what needs to happen to make sure this is successful.

Thanks all. Got lots of customers up there and many are using the Mann's jelly worm and other hand poured products with lots of action to the paddle. They tell me the paddle moves wildly on retrieve in erratic ways. Will get samples.

Is Wackm worm body totally round or flat on one side?

Jim

The injection version is .4" x .375" (round with a taper to the tail).  The tail is 1.75" x .75".

The OP version is flat on one side and shares the same dimensions but is bulkier because it is not round.

Both are 2 cavity.

I called around and everyone who has seen them or fished them likes them, but they don't have a lot of on the water exposure (it's a Summer bait and we came out with them very late Summer / early Fall).

The piece of feedback I got that was different than yours was the tail action on the retrieve.  The key action that was explained to me was it rising off the bottom, or an erratic fall around ledges.  This made sense to me with a bait so long, a strike on the retrieve would be at the tail and would result in a short strike and you getting half a worm back.  I think this technique is also covered in the FLW mag (one of the Fall issues).

My gut would be the OP in a good floating plastic.  With custom colors and design it should be different enough to not be price compared to the mass produced baits.  With that said, I would try and get the baits in front of whomever is buying them and let them make the call.

Thanks Jason!!! Sorry if I wasn't clear on the action. They don't use three as swimming worms for sure. The erratic motion of the paddle tail is the key.

Do you have a video of this worm under water by chance?

I am NOT swimming down to the ledge to check the action on any lake!!!!!  :D

It's a great mold, shoots easily, and makes a very good worm.
