Personally, I think I'd worry more about the hook's finish. I cast up both Aberdeen and Sickle hooks for my Crappie and Walleye fishing and really cannot say with certainty that one does better than the other within a hook brand, say Eagle Claw 570 style vs 500 style, but I cast only those hooks with the black nickel coating on them. I won't cast a red hook period and I am getting that way about bronze coated hooks.
The sickle hook concept may offer some slight advantages as far as staying hooked in a fish's mouth when compared to an Aberdeen of the same size. There are going to be slight differences in hook length and hook gap when different brands and sizes are compared but to really determine which hook is the best fit for one's personal needs one will have to try a few different jigs cast on different hooks and in different sizes. There can also be a difference in a hook's ability to straighten out when snagged vs snapping off....temper differences between brands can be huge.
I don't do fancy paint jobs, only straight solid colors using CS powder coat. I can cast Crappie sized jigs in sizes 4, 6, and 8 in 1/32 and 1/16 heads. I need to check on hook supplies but will then send you a PM and we can have a chat about what you need. Look for a pm inside of an hour.
