I just saw on Facebook that Denny Welch's family is holding a "celebration" in his honor with all the writing in past tense. Apparently he has passed away. What a man. I was blessed to not only get to meet Denny at the 2 Do-It Get-Togethers but was also blessed with being able to visit he and Rosemary at the California home for a week.
Denny was always so laid back and un-assuming here on the forums. What most don't realize was that he had quite the operation out there. Multi-color, pressure injection machines, triplicate and 4"s of most molds he owned.... he had to have had 400 molds. Spray booth where he was set up for liquid and powder spraying. 20-foot worktables. Several lead pots. It was an amazing set up, right in his garage. Of course, they had to park outside but where they lived, they seldom saw any liquid precip. Open the door from the house into the garage and one was instantly in a veritable wonderland.
Denny and I stayed in touch, talking quite often, until about a year ago when he and Rosemary moved in with a daughter when Denny's condition took a downward turn.
Denny, I know you're out there somewhere in the vast tackle-crafting ang fishing wherever, sharing your wisdom and throwing your wit to those who maybe need it. Knowing you was an honor. We'll meet again and we'll trade those secrets and back swatting again. RIP brother.
