Where to buy custom jig heads?
« on: 01/19/24 07:26 UTC »
I am looking for some jig heads - 1/16 oz. with #6 hook, and 1/8 oz. with #4 hook, painted - to fit some plastics I have.  Looking for the smaller than typical hooks for the head size.

Does anyone know someone that may do some or a place that sells them?  I just want single color painted, no eyes.

Thanks!

It might help if you indicate how many and what color.

probably 50 to 100 of each size, in yellow chartreuse and black.

Not knowing how molds and hook sizes work - do you think I'd loose too much hook gap with these?

Marc, I make & sell all kinds of jigs, painted & unpainted. It depends on the head style how well the hook might fit, but typically those hook sizes are not used for those weights.

If you want a round head jig, that's probably something that can be done with those hook sizes.

Do you have an exact jig style that you're wanting to get? Even with basic round head jigs, there's various configurations.

This is the yellow chartreuse that I have, I only use powder coat paints, and do have several molds for round head jigs.

The jig shown here is just an example of one style, and I make sure all the hook eyes are clean.

The hooks should be fine in the heavier than normal heads as long as the plastics being used still allow enough of the barb side of the hook to be exposed. I have cast 1/16 heads with #8 hooks for a couple of my thin plastics and they work well so a #6 will be fine. I'm assuming that a #4 in the 1/8 will be a go too since its only one size different.

Jim does a bang up job on his jigs so I'll let him barter with you as I really don't want to take on any work with the cold we're having here and having to heat my shop. Also, my casting is limited to collarless heads that use the wire keepers.

That yellow/chart is perfect!  I am open a little on head styles, prefer basic round head, but pill style or other may work - not super pickey.  On the 1/16 #6 hook, would be nice to have no collar if possible, as the plastics for those will be smaller - but not a deal breaker.  And may be open to a 1/24th oz. head as well if you had a mold.

I read one of your other  posts on how many molds you have - this could get expensive :)

And your paint jobs look really nice!  Do you want a phone call to work out details?  Can you PM me info or I can send mine.

I think that I do have a 1/24 oz jig mold, but don't hold me to that! My memory isn't always the best.

I'll check on that!

I'll send you a PM.  :D
