time for serious heat....

I have a propane heater that has just a flame inside a tower that does a half decent job in the shop when its cold like this but there's zero efficiency about the thing and I have to run the ceiling discharge fan to be able to stay in the shop more than a half hour.... the co levels go bonkers. I picked up a 20,000BTU ventless, 99% efficient wall heater this morning and plan to have it in and running by tomorrow. Beginning tonight and thru Thursday we're supposed to see the coldest temps of the year, lows below -20 with daytime highs below zero. Just all kinds of fun.

I want to start my airbrushing but I don't like an open flame while doing so. This new wall mount's flame is enclosed so I feel a bit safer.

We had all December and January for this crap weather, but...    Maybe this is the last blast of real cold for the winter. I hope.

I’m hopeful this next arctic blast will be the last for the year as well. My heat source use to be an electric heater in a decent size garage. That was miserable and I have some scars on my legs from standing to close to it while making baits. I was able to upgrade last winter when I got a used pellet stove for free from a relative. So far I’ve only had to buy the pipe kit and a new blower motor. Only running it at night when the temp gets down below 35 degrees I can make a bag of pellets last for two days for about $5.50.

Well, the idea was right but it requires a 100 pound bottle and that's not a happening thing with our building/safety codes. So.....

Ctom, is it a blue flame type propane wall heater? I put one in my garage shop when I was in Drakesville, Iowa. It worked very well. The only drawback was the moisture it created on the windows.  it kept my 350 sq. ft. shop very toasty. I bought mine used from a man who purchased a bigger unit for his wood shop. If I remember correctly it, mine was a 20,000 btu also. You'll love it.

I can't use it Lines. It is the blue flame and I have ventilation for the moisture issue, but it needs a 100 pound tank the minimum to operate. I checked with building and safety and I can't have the tank inside the garage nor am I going to have it stand outside after poking holes in the walls and siding and finding a level place where it will stand that isn't going to be an eyesore.

Set some posts, put some lattice up. Paint or stain the lattice to match house. Plant a couple Lilacs. Have your heat.

I agree with apdriver. Have your heat. Build a decorative shelter for it. I had to use a 100# tank as well.
