Never. I tie direct to the jig.

Tom i do too with a loop knot but after seeing the ring roller heads it would be good to try to see if it does roll enough with a regular old split ring.

I like the direct contact with the jig. No rings, clips, bearings in between for moi.

Yep I understand but with a loop knot a man is also weakening the line which is why I was interested in trying the split rings or hearing any results from those that have.

I don't loop knot either. I want my knot snug to the jig. I've never seen any advantage to a knot that wasn't tight to the hook, lure or jig for any of my fishing.

I do pre rig bass plastics I fish on weighted hooks mounted on 20lb titanium wire with a very small swivel at the line end when pike are around in numbers but that swivel doesn't come into play at the plastic end. The only time I use any sort of "loose" lure connection is on Lake Superior and a quality ball bearing swivel/clip is used with the tackle I cast or troll with there because everything seems to want to want to spin on the line and twist can occur.

Panfish, walleye/sauger and 80% of my bass fishing gets tied tightly and direct.

You must not understand the rocking motion that people are looking for in this technique... Oh well.

I understand it, just haven't found any need for it.
