This morning....
« on: 04/23/26 11:25 UTC »
Wanting to toss some plastic to crappies ahead of today's weather [again], I hit the local lake and fished a private dock using what was already rigged on the rod: a 1/16 Do-It Round Head with the wire keeper, dunked in Pro-Tec's transparent purple powder paint and wearing a 2-1/4" Do-It Small Fry bait done in my pet color combo hung under one of my home-spun floats.

It turned out to be a fairly short trip as this fish went in the bucked on the second cast. There are nine more in the pail just like this one. All told I caught maybe 35 crappies of near similar size before I came home. The wind ahead of this impending cold front really began to ramp up the last 15 minutes I was there making fishing a bit tough.

There is zero colorant in that purple plastic, only lots of .008" glitter.

It's supposed to get wild with the weather again late afternoon and evening, but I'm planning to sneak back out to the dock in the morning for an attempt at round two.
