So Diane and I spent the weekend at Lake Amistad. It was a last second decision, a customer was having a problem and the lake was there, so we went for it. All I can say is WOW. What an awesome, unbelievable beautiful lake. Fishing is the exact opposite of Fork, clear and deep. It was really cool to get to fish it, but my deep game definitely needs some work!
One highlight was getting to meet Denny Brauer. I love the jig and few, if any, have had his success with the jig. Plus growing up in Kansas Denny is a local icon being from Missouri. So it would be great if the story stopped here, but it doesn't. I thought it would be really cool to go swimming with Denny, so as I stepped from my boat to his I decided to fall partially in the lake. Being the nimble person I am, and seeing that Denny wasn't going to join me, I only partially got in. Needless to say, besides a good chuckle, he was an absolute gentlemen about the entire thing. Thank you Denny!
Here is a picture, please disregard the wet leg:
From a fishing perspective we caught a few, all on the 4.5" Swim Toad (swimming it deep) and the Swim Bait. You can see pics of some fish and the lake here:
