*** New Release *** 14" Ribbon Tail Worm
« on: 05/17/12 09:02 UTC »
This is a whopper of a bait  :o.  Measuring 14" long and .45" wide it weighs in at .8 oz.  Even with it's mammoth size, it still has the unbelievable action of the smaller ribbon tails.  You will have to see this bait in person to truly appreciate it.  Even then, you won't believe what it looks like in the water.  The tail on this worm moves effortlessly, with practically no weight.

This worm can easily be fished traditionally, as a swim worm or as a snake on top.

Two Cavity Mold - shoots very easy and flawlessly.

With a base worm diameter of 0.45" & the way the mold looks; It is one serious worm.
Weighing more than 3/4ths of a ounce; casting won't be a problem either.
You release a group of small baits and then along comes this whopper.

I can see it being fished as top water.  It should "float" a pretty good sized hook. Gives new meaning to snaking it through weeds or over the slop.  A good many fellows on Guntersville fish the big worms as a top water bait over the millfoil.

We've been using a 5/0.  A 6/0 would work well also.  Welton and I went fishing today and he caught a nice one on it.  I'm sure he'll post a pic when he gets a chance.  I missed what felt like a monster on it...  At first I thought I was hung on a tree until it started pulling back.  I would have at least liked to catch a glimpse of what it was.  :(

Here is Welton and his fish.  The fish was absolutely perfect.  Beautiful color, fat, and not a blemish on her.  I love seeing healthy fat fish!!!

This chunk put up quite a fight and managed to dig her way in every clump of grass between the boat and herself.  It was an awesome display of angling on Welton's part to land her.  Great job Welton!!!

Honestly, I love it.  It has the same action as the smaller ones, it's just bigger.  The thing I like so much about a ribbon tail is they are so natural in their movement.  They flat out catch fish - regardless of the size.

The only really knock on them is they take up a ton of space in a mold...

Thanks for the picture.  It does give a much better idea of just how big the worm is.  I can see the East Coast striper  guys going nuts over this one.
