Rigging the 6" swim worm???
« on: 05/26/12 10:20 UTC »
Anybody have a picture? I know I am going to peg an 1/8oz tungsten weight to the front, t-rigged, but I am wondering about the hook position.

With other swim worms, you rig the hook perpendicular with the tail so the swim action is proper. Wondering if these should rig that way or what. The flat side is throwing me off....

It may not matter but I am making these for my trip and want to be ready to fish as we have heard the water is up and the smallies are crusing the shallows....  :D  :D  :D

Jim, Probably the best way is to rig it and run it down the side of the boat. Then change the rigging and try it the other way. I usually rig everything straight with the hook on the bottom, but who know's? :D :D

Fish it / rig it just like you would the swim shad and the tail will put off the same action.

I have been Texas rigging it with the hook point on the flat side for better hook sets. I use a  small rubber bobber stop  to Carolina rig it (or to use it to protect the knot) And  another up the line to peg the sinker when I want to.  Yes...one below the sinker...and one above. Use the smallest rubber bobber stop u can.

I like to swim it past the structure... then let it drop.

50 LB braid, bobber stop, 1/4 oz tungsten weight, 4/0 owner offset shank wide gap worm hook, run the worm 1/2 or so passed the shank on the line.  Flat side of the worm up,

really like that worm, need to scrap up some cash to buy a couple molds, will welcome fall  OT.

Swam it in pool yesterday so I have seen the action now. Doesn't matter how you rig it really, the tail does it's thing.

for me the worm is a medium between the magnum and regular ultra vibe speed worm which for me is just perfect sometimes the magnum is too much and the regular is not enough.
