What is the water temp down there right now ?

I saw water from the high 40's to the low 60's.  We obviously focused on the warmer water.  It was still tough going.  I think the fish were still trying to adjust to the warmer water.

Just remember, it's all relative.  I grew up in Kansas and have a 6.8lb Bass mounted right next to my 13 and am just as proud of it.  You have to consider the body of water you are fishing.  An 8 is a super nice fish down here, but it would be like catching a 6 - 6.5 maybe smaller up north.

The most important thing is you are outdoors doing something you love.  For me the fish are just a bonus (unless I miss a good bite - then everything changes  :-\ ).
Yeah. If I ever boat one over 7 I'll put it on the wall. I came close year before last. Caught a largemouth that weighed 6lbs10oz. Of course the camera was home next to the computer where I left it after loading pics of the 5-10 I caught the weekend before. :-I'm on the right track though.I never caught a 5 out of public waters until two years ago. I now have four over 5lbs and one over 6. Three of the four were caught in april. The last two were caught on baits I made. The fish in my picture was caught on a hand poured craw and weighed 5-9.

Very cool.  I love the satisfaction of making something that works as well or better than multi-million dollar companies.   :D

Great fish!
