I preheat the pot when possible and then pour in two cups of hot (microwaved) plastic and work out of the pots (I have two) to inject. As I'm working...I'm heating another cup of plastic to replace what I'm using.

Once those cast iron pots get hot...they really hold in the heat and don't need stirred... beyond the adding new plastic and what "stirring" I do with my injector.  They way I look at it ...the are a plastic temp. safe "insulated bottle"...kind of approach.

For safety reasons I do NOT leave the two burner cooking unit on....I'm worried that I'll forget to turn it off! But when I'm doing a really big project I leave the burners on about medium...so I don't have to worry to much about burning plastic on the bottom of the pot.

If you plan on working for awhile it's a pretty good (and cheap) way to have enough plastic. The pots hold the heat a LOT better than pyrex cups or silicone cups.

If you keep pouring in replacement hot plastic...you rarely need to reheat what's in the pot....unless you hit a long delay. Make sure you make (or use an old ) pot lid to cover up when your not drawing plastic.

After your done, just leave the plastic in the pot and when it cools it pretty much just lifts out. Even though the pots are pre-treated...I sometimes spray them with a little PAM and rub that in before I put plastic in them. If anything is stuck make sure you use one of those hard plastic scrapers they sell to scrape out  the plastic because you no NOT want to scratch the pot!

I've never tried it with a bigger pot for lots of plastic...but I would think it would work ok (if the surface area wasn't too big. I've wondered if it would work to put a spout on the bottom of the pot if you were using a big pot...

We use big Lodge cast iron pots to cook dinner while camping and it does not take very many pieces of hot charcoal to bring water up to a boil and maintain a high cooking temp....for hours.

The whole idea of extra heaters, stirring devices etc. is just too much fuss for me since I'm only injecting baits for myself.

Wonder if you set it on a griddle? Probably would maintain heat and not have to use a burner at all. If you have a griddle that is....

I think you can use the word burner/griddle interchangeably....but still I worry about remembering to turn it off!
