Heating Plastic...Anchor Hocking, Pyrex, etc
« on: 08/23/12 10:56 UTC »
I heard and saw once a rubber or silicone type container that folks use to heat plastic.  Do you know where to get them and how much they are?  Right now, I use 2 cup and 4 cup Pyrex measuring cups, but would like to find something that doesn't get real hot after multiple heats.  Thanks for looking.

I got mine on ebay, search silicone reassuring cups. They work great for hand pouring BUT the are flimsy so dont fill them up over half way.

Target has them. Make sure the tag states they are good for above 350 degrees....and I agree ...don't fill them more than 1/2 full. I use them a lot because they hold the heat well.

If you get them someone taught me this once. They hold moisture really bad so when I first pick them up to use them they have condensation all through them. Someone taught me to wipe them out first and microwave them empty for 20 seconds before use to avoid bubbles in the plastic because of moisture.

The silicone cups are great because they hold the heat longer. This seems to be the opposite of what you want.

They get hot and must be hrld with a glove.

I dont use them to replace pyrex but they do have their place. great for hand pours as you can squeeze the cup to make a small pouring spout.A must on small molds and details. IMO, Here are some I did with the cup, light pink belly and middle are poured with a sil. cup then shoot the back.

The sent PMs are not auto saved, when you send a pm at the bottom put a check in the (save copy to my sent box) it's on the left under the input box.
