Fun, fun, fun!!!!!
« on: 09/03/12 15:06 UTC »
I was moving some hoses around today to give some of our perennials a drink, what with the dry time we are caught up in.  I tripped on a hose and landed on a pipe that acts as a hose roller so the hoses don't smash down the plants on the corners of the beds. Ain't good....

Can you guess where I'm headed?

Ma has been in Minneapolis/St.Paul since Saturday morning. Shes headed home now.  Then the doc. I'm iced and have the leg raised. Changing bandages every 30 minutes.....this is already getting old.

Hey Tom...I thought it was only us old flatulates that did stuff like that.  Hope all is well.  (You might want to spread a little of that cheese spread on it.)
Until next time.

I just returned home from the er. Not good. I have some serious muscle swelling and the sheat enclosing the muscle is still intact. If the swelling continues it leads to whats called compartment syndrome and they will have to go in and litterally split the sheath around the muscle so muscle, vascular, and/or nerve damage doesn't occur. Gonna be a tense two days here.

Can stich anything since there's nothing but a big hole where the skin and meat came off. Then of course they had to mention the problems with infection. This really wasn't high on my bucket list.

Last night was interesting. This kinda gives pain a whole new meaning. Its not the wound itself, its all the swelling. The lower leg is twice its normal size and as hard as a rock. No heat or redness or infection apparent so at least that is on the positive side. I tolerate pain pretty well, but this nagging ache from the swelling is something else.

I have been a carpenter for most of my adult life and really have tried to hang up the tool belt but past customers keep calling with little jobs. I had one such job slated for a week ago but the 100 degrees forcast for the day was not going to see me in it. Today I was going to run over to their house for the morning and get my little things cleared up for them but now I'm out of the work arena for no less than a week. Sitting for any length of time gets the leg to throbbing so for a week I am probably destined to be miserable. I'm not programmed to be idle.

I guess I should thank my lucky stars that this wasn't worse right from the get-go.

Glad to hear your ok with no sign of infection. Although not so glad to hear your hurt, have you spoken with your Dr. about some form of pain management? After recently having surgery myself I found that it wasn't so much the pain management as it was the inflammation of the soft tissue areas around the bone. Spoke with the surgeon and he placed a script for muscle relaxers, never have I been so relieved. I could fully function with no pain and no "high as a kite" droopiness.

I'm sure I am not the only one hoping everything turns out ok, get well soon <~ so unoriginal and tacky

I'm sure they have you on antibiotics, but you should ask about ketones. You body produces it when there is tissue damage, but can over produce and require stronger antibiotics..Ketones are like sugar/insulin and if you're diabetic or have high blood pressure, it can be worse. I'm no medical expert, just speaking from personal experience.
