Testing color mixing

Anyone have a good way to test what you get when you mix colors without mixing them in plastic?

Only thing I can come up with is mixing a drop of each and spreading it out on a piece of glass.

A clear oil-based medium, like mineral oil, works well as a mixer to see the colors blended, and saves that wonderful Crystal Clear Plastic for the baits!!

I have heard of people using mineral oil.  I actually bought some last night to put on a bamboo cutting board to keep it from drying out.  It was fairly cheap.  I think it was around $2.00 for 16 oz.

I don't know of a good way to simulate what a color will look like in an actual bait without making the bait - especially when you factor in glitter and the significant impact it has on the final color.

I just want an idea of what the color might be. I wish i had money to burn to do a ton of experiments but for me every little bit of savings goes a long way.

This would be really rough, but could be used at a very high level for ideas.  On your computer you should have some sort of paint program.  In that program there should be a color pallet that lets you look at how colors work together.  I know this isn't what you are looking for, but it may help understand the relationship between colors a little better.

A compliment to what Jason said. There are some interesting color mixing apps on Iphone as well!
