Remelt Mayhem...the CCM 4" Skinny
« on: 10/08/12 13:55 UTC »
Here are some of the results of the remelts, and in the new CCM 4" Skinny Carrot.  I did other colors not shown here, including a variation of "Avocado" and a Pure Solid White (good in dirty Saltwater)...

Of course, these pics do no justice...

Smokey-G...4" Skinny
60 Mann's 3" SRG (Stingray Grubs) in "Smoke" (made 8-10 ounces...upon further observation)
40 Drops CCM Pearl Green Smoke (non-X2)
1 Smidgen CCM .008" Gold flake

Salty RedWorm...CCM Zipper Worm and 4" Skinny
1 pack (12 baits) Yum 5" Dinger "Red Shad"
1.5 packs (18 baits) Yum 5" Dinger "Smoke Red"
...mostly for imitating Red Worms on Oyster Beds...it'll surely do the trick!

MelonCado...4" Skinny and 3" Skinny
20 H&H Cocahoes "Avocado/Neon"
25 Mann's 3" SRG "Avocado"
8 Yum LPT 3.25" Crawbugs "Watermelon/Red"
5 Drops CCM Brown NB (non-X2)

Chartreuse/Red SpeckWorm...4" Skinny
60 Mann's 3" SRG "Chartreuse"
1 Pinch CCM .015" Red flake
1 Pinch LC .062" Black flake
...through the years, we threw Chartreuse/Silver flake/Red Tail and Chartreuse/Red flake Cocahoes...I was partial to the Chartreuse/Red flake.  For many years, Saltwater Fisherman caught Saltwater Species on "SpeckWorms", which is a straight-tailed "worm" almost identical to a 3" or 4" Salty Rattail, with Black Spots painted all over it.  I'm applying the "SpeckWorm" here, just using Flake, not paint.  I combined the Chart/Red with the Black flake for this Chartreuse/Red SpeckWorm...

There are a few bubbles in these remelts...but that's Ok...I'm not trippin' on that.

Thank You Sir!

From looking at Lunar and Tide Tables, I'm thinking Tuesday Night into Wednesday may be a decent time for this Dog to Hunt the Salt.  If everything stays fairly stable, the MS Coast will see me and my little boat, hopefully with the YT50 loaded with Specks and Flounder...:D

Mr. Pat, in the "search bar", search "Avocado/Neon".  I have a recipe for it in the Color Cookbook...I used store-boughts for these remelts.  The diameter of the 4" Skinny is the same as the 3" Skinny...with a 1" body and 3 inches of taper.  The tail on these Skinny4's are "slightly rounded", and observing my 3" Skinny and 3.5" Regular molds, they're all slightly rounded.  I think the diameter on the 3" and 4" Skinnies are .3125", if my memory serves me correctly.

Also, if I were using X2 colorant, and looking at non-X2 recipes, I'd try half as many drops, or maybe half minus a few drops, and go from there.  I used Watermelon and a little Brown in Avocado/Neon.  If I used 7 drops of non-X2 Brown, maybe try 3 drops of X2 Brown, to tone-down the Green of the Watermelon.

BKJ, you use some mighty expensive baits to make your CC baits...do you buy plastisol from CC, Bear??

Thank YOU Sir, and You're very welcome!  I bought the commercial baits to make my own with because my system is flawed and I've wasted alot of plastic because of it.  I bought some for the colors, some for the density, some for the attractant, but all because they've been heated correctly, initially.  Now I have a stock that I can use and reuse.  All my plastic liquid is CCM.  I'll have a thermometer soon, so I'll be able to continue with the liquid, as "needed".  It's ok, I think...I've learned alot.

Tide was moving, throwing a Double Rig (tandem) of 1/8 oz. Darters and 4" Skinnies.  White on the rear, Smokey-G on the forward.  2 throw-back Reds, 3 Specks. 1 Speck was just-legal so it still swims, 1 I didn't measure, got 1 decent Speck on ice.  3 out of 5 fish passed the White and ate the Smokey-G, including the 2 bigger fish.  Resting for morning.  Be Blessed!

I'll be short for now Bro's, I'm headed home from Harvesting Specks!  Mr. Pat, I usually use 20 lb. Ande Clear Mono for my leaders, unless the situation calls for Fluorocarbon or 30 lb. Ande (rare).  I buy the 1/4 lb. spools and make my own leaders.  I'll stretch out about an arm-span (don't cut), tie on the 1st jighead.  I like my leaders fairly long.  My longest line (for the bottom/rear bait) is usually about 3' long, and my shorter line (for the forward/top bait) is about half the length of the long.  I'll eyeball about what I need, say 4.5', plus about 6", cut.  Tie the 2nd jighead on.  Now You have 1 long piece of mono with a jighead on each end.  Tie an eye about 2/3rd's down the line, making an eye to clip to my swivel and making both "legs" of the leader, short leg about half the length of the long leg.  TONS of small school Trout today, most had Shrimp Whiskers hanging out their mouths.  MS Speck Creel is 15 per person, I was alone, and have a FINE limit of Specks.  Not the 1st Flounder, which kind of boggles me.  Probably 80% of all fish caught today, plus the 1 large Red that came off at the boat, ate the Smokey-G.  EVERY fish hooked ate the 4" Skinny.  They wouldn't TOUCH anything else.  Even the Schoolies couldn't help but pummel the combo.  Thank You JESUS!  Mrex, roger on the colors!  We used to do good in Myrtle Grove Duck Ponds in Winter using "Strawberry" Sparkle Beetles, Transparent Red/Silver Flake.  The only other color that got bit today just may be my excuse to get some X2 Motor Oil...if I can find some Gray/Smoke Pearl or Black Pearl Powder...!
