a little OT... Baitfish
« on: 10/19/12 19:28 UTC »
Does anyone here (especially in the south... FL, LA, GA, etc) collect their own baitfish?  I'd be interested in getting a hold of some species like sailfin mollies, any top minnows (funduls species), rainbow shiners, or pygmy sunfish.  Maybe for you guys in TX... Texas Cichlids.

Threadfin shad are the only bait most fishermen cast net around here deliberately.  That and trapping crayfish.  Many will keep the "roaches" ( large golden shiners ) if one shows up in the net.  Minnows are too small to catch in most cast nets used.
This is for  the TVA Lakes.
