Sticky twinjector
« on: 10/22/12 18:38 UTC »
I'm new to this. Just got my molds and plastic from Caney Creek and a twinjector from bt. The injector from Caney creek is as smooth as silk. The twinjector however (without plastic) sticks and is quite jerky. I haven't tried to shoot molds with either one, but it seems that the twinjector will be trouble if I load it with plastic and the stickiness/jerkiness continues. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Oil the I rings. And I think a lot of guys free up the bolts that hold them together to help with this problem.

Thanks. I'll try that. What type of oil, wd40, vegetable oil, or some sort of specialty oil? I do have a container of worm oil.

Thanks. Looking forward to getting into this. Having knee replacement surgery next week so I'll have lots of down time in between rehab sessions. What better way to spend it than producing my baits for next season. Didn't get out much this year due to the knee issue and put my boat into storage today, always a sad day. Thanks for the help.

Too much oil will make it sticky too.  I don't do much to my twin now.  I think there is a break in period too.  Mine works better now after dome use

one thing you can do instead of adding oil which will attract little bits of dust and plastic and make it sticky also, when you shoot your last mold with the twin injector instead of emptying it out just turn it over so he nozzles are up and let the plastic cure in your injector.. the oils that are in the plastic will actual lube the injectors for you.. do this a couple of times along with being patient because there is a little break in time.. you will will be good to go

Making sure you tighten down the center bracket with the injectors perfectly strait made a difference for me also.

I found loosening the screw a little that holds the two injectors help. Be sure to clean the twins before use. It's covered in a machine oil and will get all over your plastic. I use wd40 or carb cleaner. Just don't get the carb cleaner on the orings.

1. Break down and clean
2 Lube cylinder with oil
3 realign your plunger shafts
4 draw plastic
5 inject

Most of the time my plunger shafts get out of align causing the aluminum to catch the plunger shaft on the plunger holes on the top cap or the plunger catches the cylinders locking it up.  Pay attention to your injection to see if your twisting the two plungers when your pushing down.

Check the cylinders to see if you have scared them. If they are scared it's most likely an alignment issue with your plungers....
