The old Stanley Wedge looks like the banana spinnerbait head, they make a great drop bait like the old short arm aggravator spinnerbaits from sloan. Do you want that head style of the older wedge? I ask as I now only have my ultra minnow mold, ever since I tried that bait I sold my other molds as the head design on the ultra minnow mold makes for a true tracking bait that comes through grass better than any other bait I ever fished. Other than the head, the biggest problem with trying to copy that bait is the blades? They are Stanley's own proprietary wedge design that aren't available for us amateur tackle makers, at least I don't know if or where I could purchase them. The difference in the wedge blades compared to regular willows is the way they spin, regular willows spin fast and tight giving off a lot of flash, the wedge blades spin in a wider rotation, it gives them more vibration with close to the same flash.

For that bait you would use the Do-it banana spinnerbait, very close to the old wedge and that is why a lot of anglers liked that bait as it made a great drop bait. The way the head is designed causes the bait to fall at the perfect angle that lets the single blade spin or "helicopter" on the way down, very effective on suspended smallmouth holding on bluff banks and it is even deadlier when you combine that head style with a short arm wire form.
