UV enhancer
« on: 01/09/13 13:56 UTC »
I've been doing some serious shooting of late and everything that is of transparent plastic or pearl is getting dosed with UV enhancer....mixed right into the plastic. I've added it to chartreuse, purple, and junebug as well. When I started with this stuff, I added it to the primary batch but found this hard to get blended in. Now I add the enhancer to about 1/2 ounce of raw plastic and mix it in. I even put this in the mic and zap it for 10 seconds, then blend. When the blending is done, I finish the recipe and cook. Works much, much better this way. SO....if you are thinking of using this stuff, this little shortcut will save you a pile of time.

Who's uv product are you using? I use spike it's and add it when ever I want. Does not matter what color as it will work in anything. Works best on salmonoids as they see it way better. Deep water situations are a good bet too as all colors become muted but uv still shows.

I have the Spike-it product. Seems thick to me and when added to room-temp plastic gets almost stringy when I stir it in. Its probably just me but I like to see stuff incorporate right away when I add it. I use stabilizer quite a bit and have thought about doing the pre-mix using the stabiler.

Have y'all seen much success regarding bass eating lures vs non uv lures? I've been thinking about trying it, but skeptical of the idea.

I target crappies but still the same I haven't had a chance to soak a bait coated with the uv yet. I might tomorrow morning when I do our bank run for the shop though.

Gotta ask....what's a bass?

Ive never had an issue mixing it in either. Most of the time i add it after its been "cooked".

Ron...Is the stuff you have real fluid. Mine is almost "clumpy". I notice though that after some heat is added to the plastic the uv enhancer seems to disappear so I think I"ll do as you do and add it after the plastic has been cooked.

Thanks for the info.  I will have to get some and play around with it as well.

Shake it up real good.  It's kinda thick like cold syrup.  Stirs into the hot plastic easily. I do when I'm adding color or flakes.

Second this post. If it sets awhile the top is waterier but I have it in pints. Never had an issue mixing it. My customers believe it works so I just put it in everything. Frank
