Frog Hanger
« on: 11/01/10 12:28 UTC »
I just wanted to show how we hang our frogs when we dip them.  We have a rack and just used fence slats notched out for the feet to hang by.  It's a pretty inexpensive solution when dipping baits and makes it a lot faster.

We had to come up with something because our neighbors keep raiding the frogs!!!  Thanks Greg!  They are ready now   ;D.

Jason,

do you dip the frogs and then hang them or hang them and bring the plastic up to the frog?

Quickly dip just the body then hang them.  Our rack works well, but if we needed another one I would make one like JSBass made.  http://www.caneycreekmolds.net/index.php?topic=102.msg2269;topicseen#msg2269

ok, last question...how do you round the nose off to make it look clean?  I used scissors but it wasn't as clean as I wanted 8)

I normally use scissors.  I believe some use heat, either a lighter, butane torch or something like that.  You can see from this pic you can get a clean cut if you use good scissors:

I dip each frog individually and allow the plastic to drip off and then round the nose before putting into water. Takes WAY longer to do each frog that way but I get perfect round noses everytime. I am sure the fish don't care but I do....

Hi Jim,

How are you rounding the noses?  Are you just swirling the bait and turning upside down (or would it be right side up)?

Thanks,

Jason

Allow the plastic to run off to the point where there is a small amount left. Swipe the excess gently across the edge of your cup and then point nose down for a couple seconds. Toss into water.

I have dipped swimbaits (thousands) this way for years so it is second nature. Takes a bit of practice to gt it right though.
