A few baits for my friend Kyle
« on: 01/19/13 17:08 UTC »
I shot these up today for my buddy Kyle, our resident Walleye guy.  I'm trying to mimic some baits he has had success with in the past.  I'll let him... Naaa...
the fish be the judge.  I may have to tweek them a little bit, but I'm thinking he'll be fine with them.  We'll have to wait to see what the Walleye think.

thanks for lookin'

Jerry

Yes, I'm a relative rookie as it comes to shooting plastics...  Jason and Diane watched me shoot my first baits.  (kind of an honor I suppose)  I've shot quite a few at the shop testing molds but only started shooting here at home in my shop last weekend.

I already pour lead and make fly ties so I'm looking at this as just another illness.

Yup... I'll need your address.  And you will need mine as well so you can mail payment... lol.

I'm afraid you're gonna have to fight Kyle for these particular baits, but he's a push over so I wouldn't worry about it really...

Thanks Guys,

Jerry

Thanks all... I did a few with orange tails this afternoon too.  They're looking pretty good.

Can you guys tell me about your experiences with pearl powder?  I can search the forum too, but  thought I'd bring it up anyway.

Don't use too much pearl powder. I found that out. I like the pearl powder. I add it to anything I want a bit of a shiny look to. Occasionally I will also add a bit to kind of highlight a color. Other than that, I use it to make pearl white, and I add a bit to many of the blue shades I do.

Pearl powder also stiffens the bait (depending on how much you use) so you want to take that into consideration as well.

Make sure you mix in the pearl powder when the plastics hot or you will end up with annoying huge chunks.

Good info there.  Looking good Jerr... I'll take a 100 of the all pearl/oystershell and 50 of the pearl/oysterhell chart. tail.  Looks like I'll be getting these wet around the 9th of March this year with a full report to follow.  That chart. tail should be killer in the spring on the river.
