How to put coffee in soft plastic lures?
« on: 02/16/13 21:45 UTC »
I'm new to bait making. Everything was purchased through CCM. I bought the 2 coffee/java scents that CC sells. I would like to have a much stronger scent. I tried putting grounds in the mix but it floats. Can someone help? Thanks, John

I have done quite a few of these baits with coffee. I also wanted a stronger scent and did exactly what you did I added fine ground coffee to my plastic it will float until it gets hot. Shoot it and it will mix just fine. I don't know if the type of coffee makes a difference I used Starbucks french roast since it has a strong aroma to it.

Give instant coffee a try. I haven't tried it, but since it's made to disolve in hot water, I would assume it'd do the same in hot plastic. You could also try heating up some worm oil and adding the instant coffee to it to make a scent. ---Tim.

I might be making a batch of coffee scent here due to requests if anyone's interested. My scent can be cooked into plastic/added to bags of soft plastics or applied directly to lures without harm.
