Walk on Water recap
« on: 02/19/13 20:37 UTC »
I have made mention that I host a charity ice derby here in Illinois( www.icebenefit.com ), this is part of the reason, I have been missing from the forums. Our oringinal date was Jan 26 2013, Well the village pulled my permit after a drunken ATV rider decided to try and jump the pressure ridge and took a swim, lucky for his family he is alright. This put the question of ice quality into question, Our derby was to be the same weekend we lost Jim Hudson. With less than 24 till kick off, I had a ton to do, calling the insurance, to see if I could postpone the policy, (no go) contact all preregistered, and flood the social medias with details of the derby being postponed. Still showing up the morning of to make sure EVERYONE got word that we needed to delay it.
By Monday I was able to take a step back and start the reschedule stuff, logistics, and helpers. The weather gave us another scare with 1" of rain and 50+ degree temps 3 days before Feb 17 2013 the back up date. Colder temps set in 2 days before and the ice firmed back up.
240+ people joined us for an AWESOME day on the ice, here is only a couple pictures.

Great show Brent... I'm glad you were able to pull it off in spite of it all.  Good looking pictures of nice fish and some great people.  A job well done it would seem, thanks for sharing.

Great job Brent! I am in IL, but did not attend as I am not an iceman. A good friend of mine, Buster, was there and I saw quite a few photos of him and his son in your video.  Looks like a good time was had by all!
