Glove alternative, anyone?
« on: 02/23/13 15:41 UTC »
Greetings!
I've been searching for the last year or so on a good alternative to the gloves in the CCM store.  I like the protection from the heat, I love the way plastic peels right off the latex dip, but I do not like the fit.  I am looking for a glove that is possibly thinner material, but still will protect against a spill, and still allow the plastic to peel off.  I've tried a few, but they all fail in one of the above categories....

Have any of you found a good alternative?

I have noticed in some of the videos that allot of people have thinner gloves that are dipped similar to the gloves and are blue.  I am not sure what the name or where to get them.  I too like everything you have mentioned about pros and also wish for a better fit.

i got some random ones for 5$ at home depot or lowes, they hold up to the heat great, have a few different sizes and are comfortable enough to work in.

the only downfall is that plastic doesnt peel off them too well, if you spill plastic on them its going to stay there for a while haha.

I use and like these A LOT

I know it says not heat resistant, but I have not had any issues using them and have had quite a bit of hot plastic on them. I would say be careful not to get anything on the back of your hands.

Thanks for the links, gang.  Crabby, how do those Firm Grip gloves do with hot injectors?

Just edited my original post. They work fine with the injectors and hot molds.

Well, heck- I have tried others, so I will have to order a pair and see how I like these.  Thanks for the tip, Crabby.

Hey super go to wal-mart in the fishing section and get you a set of Berkley fishing gloves. the are blue on the backs.  They are like 3.50 or something like that.  I use those and they work great.  I also use what jason sells, its cold in VA right now.

I use a heavily padded winter type glove and I have had no problems with heat.  The plastic peels off extremely easy on the glove.  I will try to take a pic of it tonight and post it on here for you.  I also have used the gloves from Menards and Home Depot that are like a mechanic type glove, but they don't do too well after a few hours of injecting.

I use welder gloves. I like that they come up my arm past the wrist. They are also easy to put on and off quickly...because no matter what type glove I use I still need to take them off when I pull and trim the baits.

I put Scotch-Guard on mine to help keep hot plastic from sticking.

Andrew;  The scotch-guard helps / works?  I would have never have thought of that.

It "helps"...a lot better than nothing....but not as good as the gloves that allow you to peel it off.

The hot plastic can really soak into a regular pair of welders gloves...but the Scotch-guard seems to really slow it down.
