Can CCM X2 be diluted using softener?????
« on: 04/02/13 14:42 UTC »
Just a question so I can get some smoke colors out of CCM X 2. Most colorants use softener as a base so I am curious.

Anybody experiment yet??????

I did it with some black I had, took some X2 and mixed it with raw plastic then put in an old bottle, much easier to get a smoke with out it being way to dark. Dont remember the mix but as you know it didnt take much

I've blended the X2 black with raw plastic like Microspoons. It works ok. Anymore I just add 1 drop of black to 3/4 cup of plastic. If I want a darker smoke I add another drop. If it needs to be lightened I add more raw plastic. I've also take black trim and added it to raw plastic a piece at a time to get smoke. I do this more often than using colorant anymore.

Gonna make up some black and white with softener as diluent.

Should be perfect for years to come. I want something available that gives the same results over and over.

It will definitely work.  All colorant is pigment cut with plasticizer. Softener and worm oil are plasticizers. That's why X2 is potent, it has more pigment and less plasticizer. You can dilute it as much as you want for smoke colors.
