Lunchtime Bassin'
« on: 04/12/13 21:35 UTC »
During my hour long lunch break at work, I like to go out and hit the local retention ponds.  I planned on going out Thursday with a coworker.  My wife had called and said she needed me to come home to do something quick, so that settled where we were going to fish.  I have 3 nice size ponds in my subdivision.  The day before I had gone out and was trying out a new jig combo I had made up.

I had hooked into a pig and lost it because I was standing on top of a culvert.  I grabbed the line to hold the fish steady and the line snapped and away she went.  I was out for revenge.  We have been getting some rain here in the Chicagoland area.  I knew the water would be coming through the spillways and culverts.  First stop on our lunchtime outing was at the North spillway.  First cast and I nailed this guy:

That was all for this spot.  We went back to the scene of the crime from the day before.  I was able to stick two more in this spot.  Here is a pick of the bigger one:

Jeff was the winner of the day.  He caught a nice pig using a white pond magic spinnerbait.  He said it was the biggest bass he has ever caught.

It sure was a rewarding lunchtime for the both of us.  Thanks for looking!

That's a very nice looking jig Chuck and it only looks better hanging off the jaw of a nice looking fish.  A more than rewarding lunch break indeed, nice work.

Thanks Jerry! I was happy with the way it turned out. Even happier that the bass liked them.  :D

Nothing feels or looks better than a fish with a bait you made stuck solid in its chops.

I love the ID badge to get into this fish wonderland. lol

Thanks guys!  We are very fortunate because we can go to lunch whenever we want.  We are allowed an hour, but we do not punch in or out, so if we are having a good day and are gone a little longer than an hour, no one really knows.    :P
